The Best Hotels Europe

Most affordable hotels are located in the Mitte section, the former East Berlin, and in Charlottenburg, the former West Berlin. Outside ‘Mitte’ there are the popular and trendy neighborhoods like Prenzlauer Berg, Kreuzberg, Friedrichshain and on the boulevards of Schöneberg you can go shopping.
Mitte has many of Berlin's main attractions, such as Alexanderplatz, Potsdamer Platz and Unter den Linden Boulevard. Here you'll also find Berlin's Museum Island, the historic Spree Island (UNESCO World Heritage) with five different museums in impressive buildings.
Charlottenburg is a bit more modern but also has its own history, such as the Charlottenburg Palace and its gardens, various museums and of course the Kurfurstendamm, the famous mile-long shopping boulevard.
Both the Friedrichshain district in former East Berlin (many protests took place here at the time of the fall of the wall) and Kreutzberg are known for their artistic neighborhoods and nightlife. In Friedrichshain you'll find the East Side Gallery, a long stretch of old wall painted with art.
