Barcelona is divided into different neighborhoods, called barrios. The old town is called Ciutat Vella and consists of the Gòtic, El Born, and El Raval districts. The old town is very atmospheric with narrow medieval streets, churches and beautiful squares. Here are most of the sights such as the Barcelona Cathedral, the Picasso Museum, Arc de Triomf and La Rambla. Adjacent to the center is the Eixample district with wide boulevards, many shopping areas and of course Gaudi's masterpieces, such as the Sagrada Familia, the Casa Batllo and Casa Milà. In Eixample you’ll find many affordable hotels.
Another nice area with accommodation is Poble Sec, at the foot of Montjuïc (Jewish Mountain), a large park with botanical gardens on a hill where there is also the Miro museum. There is a funicular that runs between Montjuïc and the old town.
